Experience and Other Skills Required

-Four years of experience in the administration of sponsored programs, including a minimum of two years of experience preparing, processing and negotiating contracts and agreements.

-Proficiency in analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of complex contractual terminology.

-Ability to respond with tact and diplomacy in the negotiation process to both internal and external personnel.

-Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment with many deadlines.

-Excellent customer service skills to serve a diverse community.

-Strong organizational and analytical skills.

-Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Description of Job Duties

Typical:
-Negotiates sponsored contracts, agreements and subcontracts with corporate and public sponsors, including federal agencies and local government.

-Prepares necessary documentation for system and general counsel review.

-Provides contractual services and guidance to faculty and research staff.

-Interprets and applies state and federal laws and regulations and university policies and procedures.

-Develops and maintains contacts with sponsoring agencies and organizations.

-Coordinate with Office of Research Integrity (ORI) for the review of export control requirements and other requirements under the purview of ORI.

-Enters and maintain contracts log for intake and tracking purposes.

-Provide Director with status updates on assigned agreement negotiations and special projects.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

Periodic:
-Assist Research Service Center staff with review of proposal stage documents and preliminary review of agreements and contracts.

-Meets with representatives to finalize contractual terms and conditions.
