Experience and Other Skills Required

-Five years of experience in primary outpatient care.
-Use of appropriate medical equipment such as electronic blood pressure units, stethoscope or accessories, and scales.
-Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas.
-Residency training and Board Certification in Family Practice.
-Must be available for consultation to nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants in emergency situations when off campus.

Description of Job Duties

-Provides medical services to meet the medical needs of the students using the principles of preventive medicine and early detection of diseases to provide good medical care through diagnosis, treating, prescribing, and follow ups or referrals.
-Maintains accurate and complete medical records in a confidential manner to meet high standards of medical services.
-Serves as a member of the Student Health Services team to provide optimum outpatient medical care, health promotion, health protection and disease prevention services to students.
-Provides medical oversight and consultation to nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants as needed.
-Available for consultation in emergency situations off campus, as needed.
-Represents UTSA at local, regional, and national conventions.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
