-A doctorate degree in mathematics (the area of specialization is open).

-Record of earning tenure at an accredited four-year university.

-Potential for excellence in teaching.

-Evidence of administrative experience in a higher education setting (center, department, program, director of graduate studies).

-A strong record of externally funded and recognized research.

Record of teaching effectiveness and mentoring of students including doctoral student.

-Record of involvement with national/international organizations, and (8) an ability to work productively with faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds.

Description of Job Duties

-Responsibilities include building on departmental strengths, recruit outstanding faculty, promote scholarly initiatives and grant funding efforts, be an advocate to both internal University and external constituencies.

-Promote and conduct an active research program, teach graduate and undergraduate courses, seek external funding, and provide service to the department and university.

-The successful candidate will assist the department in strengthening and finalizing an evolving proposal for a Ph.D. program.
